In a first of its kind for the region, this 1MWp grid-connected solar farm with a 1.1MWh battery energy storage system helps provide a smooth supply of renewable energy for 18,000 residents of Taveuni, Fiji’s third largest island. This solar farm, designed and installed by Clay Energy as an EPC project, enhances the island’s existing generation capacity which comprises the Sumitomo Hydroelectric Scheme and the Waiyevo Power Station.
The project has direct benefits for the community, encompassing better living conditions, health benefits, job creation, climate resilience and food security. It will help the country achieve a national target of 100% renewable electricity and meet international commitments to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030.
